2016 MSLA FALL BALL FACTS:

REGISTRATION:

MSLA fall ball is open to all skill levels.

THE PRIMARY PURPOSE IS TO HAVE FUN!!!

MSLA fall ball provides new and returning players with opportunities to improve their skills, meet new people, and compete in a relaxed environment.

LEAGUE FORMAT:

BRING YOUR OWN TEAM

This can be an established team or a newly created team.

Managers are encouraged to take this time to invite new players to join your roster during early registration in LeagueApps.

Also, team name has to consist of a Pokemon Go character....if you do not know of one, we have a list of names still available.  First come, first choosing.

You can choose your team character AND color once you have a completed team.

We will contact you via email to get your full team name and color so there are no repeats.

DRAFT FORMAT/FREE AGENT

Anyone new to the league or a returning player that just wants to try something new and different.

Just like previous years, you can register in LeagueApps as a

Free Agent and our Fall Ball Committee will randomly assign teams based on similar skill levels. New players to the league should initially register as Free Agents.

DIVISIONS:

This year there will be an Upper and Lower division with no Team Ratings Caps

UPPER DIVISION:  Players rated 11 and higher

Further clarification regarding C Rec players for Fall Ball:  If any C Rec player who was rated 10 or below and was rated to 11 or higher during the appeals process, will be allowed to play in the lower division

LOWER DIVISION: Players rated 10 and lower OR any team or player that played in the D or D rec division during the 2016 Spring Season.

PLEASE NOTE: If ANY player is viewed to be a safety risk in ANY division, they will be placed on a team more suited to their current skill level. If another division needs to be created to insure the safety (AND FUN) of the league, we will assess that situation immediately and make necessary changes.

NEW THIS SEASON:

There will be NO official pick-up player sign- in sheets.

There will be a clipboard with a list that players interested in playing more games as a pick-up can sign up on BUT there is no guarantee you will be picked-up.

MANAGERS: if you need a player, find one at the fields or ask in advance. If you need one at the fields, the list will be available for your use. All pick-up players must be registered for Fall Ball through LeagueApps.

Game times on Sundays generally range from 9:00am-3:00pm.

Want to have a Host  Bar at your Sponsor?

The first five bar sponsors who pay online will be assigned as a Host Bar after each Sunday's games. This is a great way for the MSLA to thank our sponsors and to promote the Social and Fun aspect of our League.

MSLA FALL BALL BENEFICIARY

We are still currently searching for the right beneficiary for the fall ball season and are waiting on more information from 2 community charities.  If you know of a community charity that should be considered during the holiday season, please email Julie Tyree mal1.coordinator@houstonmsla.org.

VOLUNTEERS NEEDED

Lastly, responsible team managers are needed for each fall ball team.

The general duties of the team manager are the following:

Ã??Ã?·       Keep the team members informed of the upcoming game times, rainouts, roster changes, etc.

Ã??Ã?·       Find out what positions each player would like to play during the season.

Ã??Ã?·       Make lineups for each game accordingly.

Ã??Ã?·       If needed, draft players to complete your line-up.

Ã??Ã?·       Keep everyone engaged and having fun.

Ã??Ã?·       Manage substitutions during games.

Ã??Ã?·       Coach/mentor  players that need or want help.

Ã??Ã?·       Assign other players to help coach base or be co-captains.

If you accept the responsibility of being a Team Manager, please contact member-at-large, Julie Tyree mal1.coordinator@houstonmsla.org.

This year, there is no single Fall Ball Chairperson.

Due to the enormous growth of Fall Ball, the League Coordinators and Members-at-Large will be in charge of the Fall Ball season. Currently those board members are Julie Tyree, David Dix, Nick Alvarado, and Lisa Scarborough. After September 25th, it will be Julie Tyree, Ceci Resendez, and David Dix.

THANKS FOR PARTICIPATING IN THE 2016 FALL BALL SEASON!

HAVE A FUN SEASON!!!
